Welcome to Tecumseh Taekwon-Do

Tecumseh Taekwon-Do is partly funded through its participation in the Alberta Liquor and Gaming Commission Casino Program. In an effort to give back to the community that we are a part of, Tecumseh Taekwon-Do undertakes a number of community initiatives:

Scholarship Program

Four $1,000 scholarships are available annually to individuals that have enrolled in a post secondary education institute. The Tecumseh Scholarship may be awarded more than once to an individual as determined by the Board of Directors. In this regard, individuals are permitted to re-apply for the scholarship if they have received the scholarship in a prior year.

The Board of Directors will make its determination for award on the basis of: (a) individual’s contribution to Tecumseh Taekwon-Do; (b) individual’s conduct in light of the Tenets of Taekwon-Do; (c) individual’s financial need; and (d) such other factors as the Board of Directors may consider.

Volunteering

Tecumseh volunteers in numerous community areas including the Calgary Drop-In Centre Kitchen and donation warehouse, Community Kitchen, Salvation Army Christmas warehouse, the Louise Dean Centre and community park clean-ups to name a few.

Silent Auction Donations

Tecumseh regularly donates free membership certificates and uniforms to community fund raising initiatives including the St. Francis High School Sports Night Dinner and Silent Auction, the Westwood Warriors Midget Hockey Fundraising Night, the Midget AA Stampeders Hockey Fundraiser and similar events. If your group is in need of a donation, please feel free to contact us.

Rental Space

Tecumseh is proud of the facilities it has constructed and regularly provides it free of charge to not for profit groups in need of a facility for team meetings, film nights, and seminars. In addition, we assist start-up ventures that are in need of space on a trial basis.

Self Defence Instruction

Tecumseh has participated in free self defence seminars in support of Canada World Youth, the Marlborough Community Centre, Father Lacombe High School, St. Dominic's Junior High School and Madeleine d'Houet French Immersion Junior High School. If you are interested in this program for your group or school, please feel free to contact us.
